What to Look for in a Good Lot for Your Classic Builders Home

Since Classic Builders has a diverse selection of neighborhoods to choose from, a good first step in picking a lot is to visit some of their open houses to get a read on the community. Take stock of what you envision for your new neighborhood: the activity level, proximity to amenities, landscaping features, and so on. You’ll want to keep all of these aspects in mind when selecting a lot.

Consider also the lot’s condition; will it need a significant amount of preparation work (leveling, clearing brush, etc.), or is it build-ready? This will factor into the overall cost and timeline of your project.

The coverage area of your floor plan is one of the most important things to keep in mind when choosing a lot; this is the amount of ground your finished house will cover on the lot, and every community or city has its own guidelines for allowable coverage area.

During the Classic Builders process, your lot will be meticulously inspected and mapped out to ensure your home fits perfectly on the piece of land you’ve selected.

Lot Prices

The price of a lot can vary widely depending on its location and condition. According to the National Association of Home Builders, the average nationwide cost for a buildable lot is just north of $85,000. Note the term “buildable”– that means this figure covers all the potential steps to prepare a lot for a new home build, which might include excavation, retaining walls, backfill, etc.

The Jackson

Who said luxury didn’t come in small packages? The Jackson makes the most of its 1,350 square feet, with three bedrooms, two full baths and a beautiful open-concept living area that connects the living room to the kitchen and dining rooms.

Vaulted ceilings throughout the common areas and tray ceilings in the master bedroom add to the feeling of spaciousness. Buyers have the option to add on an additional fourth bedroom and third bath.  

The Leigh

Classic details and plenty of space can be found in The Leigh, a three bedroom, two-and-a-half bath two-story home on 1,600 square feet. Nine-foot ceilings come standard on the main level, with a conveniently located half bath for visitors.

The second floor houses the home’s bedrooms, bathrooms, and laundry. A rear-entry garage can accommodate two cars, while a covered deck makes a great space to entertain.

The Davis

Large families and folks who welcome frequent houseguests will feel right at home in The Davis, a roomy 1,850 square foot model with four bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths. Home cooks have plenty of space to work their magic in the large kitchen with wraparound countertops, while a mudroom off the two-car garage acts as a catchall for coats, shoes, and laundry.

The master bedroom, ensuite bath, and guest half bath are housed on the first floor, with the remaining bedrooms upstairs. Buyers have the option of adding a third full bath to the second level.
